Sierra Cryptantha grows in the following 11 states:

Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Oregon, California, Nevada, North Dakota, Washington

Cryptantha nubigena is a perennial plant in the Borage Family (Boraginaceae). It is commonly called Sierra Cryptantha.

It is found in the central and southern United States Sierra Nevada range, up to the alpine zone at 12,900 feet (3,900m).
It has short, leafy stems, but less densely leafy than Low Cryptantha Cryptantha humilis.
Hairy leaves are spoon shaped.
Flowers are white and less than 15 inch (0.51cm)wide.
The wrinkled ovate fruits (nutlets) are more smooth than C. humilis.
